We deliver high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies that power everything from gaming consoles to the world's fastest supercomputers. Our passion for pushing the boundaries of technology drives us to continually innovate and develop solutions that improve the world around us.

Job Overview

We are looking for a talented and motivated Co-Op Intern to join our team at AMD. This internship provides an exciting opportunity for fresh graduates and students pursuing their Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees to immerse themselves in AMD’s dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a Co-Op Intern, you will play a key role in bringing AMD’s cutting-edge System-on-Chip (SoC) designs to life through the development of virtual models. You will collaborate with multiple teams to simulate the behavior of AMD’s next-generation designs, enabling pre-silicon development of firmware, system drivers, and application software.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop Fast Platform Models (FPM)
As an intern, you will be responsible for developing Fast Platform Models that simulate the software-visible behavior of AMD’s future SoCs. These models are essential for pre-silicon development, allowing teams to test firmware, drivers, and application software before the hardware is available. Your work will contribute directly to the quality and performance of AMD products.

2. Support Pre-silicon Development
You will enable pre-silicon development by creating virtual models that emulate the behavior of AMD’s SoCs. This will allow firmware and software teams to perform early testing and development, ensuring that system, driver, and application software is optimized and ready for silicon.

3. Enhance Simulation Infrastructure
You will collaborate with experienced engineers to enhance AMD’s simulation infrastructure, improving its stability, performance, and functionality. You will also be tasked with developing new debug features that make it easier to identify and resolve issues during pre-silicon development.

4. Work with Cross-functional Teams
Throughout your internship, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including architecture, system software, and hardware teams. You will help debug issues that arise when running workloads on the models and provide support to teams using your models for testing and development.

5. Create and Execute Test Plans
You will be responsible for developing test plans to validate the functionality and performance of the models you create. This will include running tests to ensure that the models accurately simulate the behavior of AMD’s SoCs and platforms, as well as identifying and fixing any issues that arise.

6. Model New SoC Designs
You will work closely with AMD’s architecture teams to understand and model new SoC designs. This will involve gathering specifications for different components, planning development timelines, and ensuring that models are completed on schedule.

7. Mentor and Collaborate
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will also have the opportunity to lead and mentor junior team members. You will help them navigate complex issues and share your knowledge of the relevant technologies, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

8. Innovate and Improve
Innovation is at the heart of what we do at AMD. In this role, you will constantly look for ways to improve the status quo, whether by developing new debugging features, improving existing models, or finding innovative solutions to complex problems. Your contributions will help ensure that AMD stays ahead of the curve in the competitive world of semiconductor development.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Background
Candidates should be pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field. A strong academic background is essential for this role, as it requires a deep understanding of computer architecture, system software, and SoC design.

2. Technical Skills
Applicants should have experience in programming languages such as C and C++. Experience in writing high-performance system and application software for Windows and/or Linux environments is essential. Familiarity with system architecture, system software development, and functional modeling will be a significant advantage.

3. Understanding of SoC Designs
A solid understanding of System-on-Chip (SoC) designs and the ability to grasp the complexities of AMD’s next-generation products is important. Candidates who have previous exposure to architecture simulation and functional modeling will have an edge in this role.

4. Problem-solving Skills
The role demands strong problem-solving skills. Applicants should be able to think critically and creatively to develop efficient solutions to complex problems. The ability to troubleshoot and debug issues is crucial, especially when working on pre-silicon development.

5. Communication and Collaboration
Strong communication skills are necessary for working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. You should be able to explain complex technical issues clearly and work collaboratively with engineers from different disciplines to find solutions.

6. Willingness to Learn
As a Co-Op Intern, you will be exposed to a wide range of new technologies and methodologies. We are looking for candidates who are eager to learn and who can quickly adapt to new concepts. Your ability to absorb new information and apply it to your work will be key to your success in this role.

What We Offer

At AMD, we believe in empowering our employees to grow both personally and professionally. As a Co-Op Intern, you will benefit from:

1. Hands-on Experience
This internship provides hands-on experience in cutting-edge technology development. You will work directly with AMD’s next-generation SoC designs and contribute to the pre-silicon development process, gaining valuable skills that will set you apart in your career.

2. Mentorship and Growth Opportunities
At AMD, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals who are leaders in the field of semiconductor development. Our collaborative environment fosters mentorship and encourages continuous learning. You will be given opportunities to grow, take on new challenges, and advance your technical expertise.

3. Networking Opportunities
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, allowing you to build a strong professional network within AMD. This network will be invaluable as you progress in your career and seek future opportunities within the industry.
